Purpose & Responsibilities
The Energy Commission is tasked with developing and administering programs related to energy conservation, renewable energy supply and resource development, recycling, energy information, emergency heating assistance, and energy emergencies.
Additionally the Commission is tasked with providing advice, assistance, and cooperation to local, state, regional, and federal agencies in developing appropriate policies relating to energy planning and regulation in the commonwealth.
This can include assistance and advise in the preparations for loan orders or grant applications for local agencies. Perform all duties and tasks associated with Chapter 3 Article 35 of the City Code.
The Energy Commission consists of seven volunteers. Each volunteer serves a three year term. Volunteers are appointed to the Commission by the Mayor, and are subject to City Council approval.
