January 11, 2011 - With the 12-18 inches of snow expected from tonight's storm, please be aware of the folowing notices and closing for Wednesday the 12th:
- City Hall will be closed Wednesday morning and will open at Noon. The Mayor's office will be open at 8:30am and other departments may be open earlier than Noon at the discretion of the department head. City Hall will be open normal hours on Thursday and Friday.
- The Fitchburg Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday. Any school delay or closing is announced on WPKZ 1280 and major television stations.
- The Senior Center will be closed on Wednesday. The Adult Library will be open normal hours from Noon to 7pm. The Children's Library will be closed. Events, including the Library Trustee Meeting, have been rescheduled to January 19
- A snow emergency/winter parking ban has been declared in the City of Fitchburg, beginning Wednesday, January 12 at 12am (midnight) and ending on Thursday, January 13 at 7am. The duration of the parking ban will be adjusted if weather and road conditions make it appropriate to do so. Also a reminder that private property owners are responsible for clearing the snow and ice from the sidewalks that are ajacent to their property.
- Curbside Rubbish and Recycling collection will be cancelled on Wednesday January 12, 2011, due to the potential for inclement weather. Collection will be a one day delay for the remainder of the week, as the Friday pick up will be on Saturday. As a reminder, Recycling collection is currently in a “B” week. Please also be advised the Fitchburg/Westminster Landfill will be closed on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Please note there will be NO collection delays next week due to Martin Luther King Day, Monday January 17th. Rubbish and Recycling Collection will be on a normal schedule, January 17-21. Residents are urged to keep informed of any further announcements regarding trash and recycling collection by checking the 2011 Recycling Calendar, or by calling the Board of Health @ 978-345-9582.
