A meeting of the COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY

will be held on

Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 6:00PM

Council Chamber 718 Main Street – City Hall Fitchburg MA

 

The Agenda will consist of the following:           

 

192-08                         Councillor Norman Boisvert to declare Oak Hill Rd. from Fairmount St. to Franklin Rd. a “Truck Exclusion Zone” with the exception to be for local deliveries only.

46-09                             Councillor Norman Boisvert to install stop signs a the following locations: 1. At the intersection of Plymouth St. and Madison St. and 2. At the intersection of Columbus St. and St. Joseph Ave. Both intersections are hazardous and are in need of traffic controls. 

233-09                         H. Victor Burns to change the stop sign that is on Essex St. because in the winter time with the snow it is very difficult to make the stop.  If it is possible, put it on Marshall Street.

255-09                         FPD Officer Paul McNamara to approve a social host ordinance to prevent underage consumption of alcoholic beverages as outlined.

256-09             Councillor Kevin Starr and Carl Williams to switch stop signs at the intersection of Essex St. & Marshall St. from Essex St. to Marshall St.

273-09                         Councillor Joseph Solomito and Sonny Brisebois to prohibit or restrict the size and or weight of certain vehicles (i.e. tractor trailers) from use on Pearl Street from Townsend St. to the border of the town of Lunenburg.

18-2010                     Councillor Joel Kaddy to create a committee, under the Public Safety Committee, to study the traffic, parking and other aspects of public safety in the College Neighborhood.

 

**REVISED TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

25-2010                     AN ORDINANCE: Amending  Chapter 40, Section 40-24 by adding a new section E as follows:

E. The Deputy Chief shall be compensated at a salary 15% higher than the salary of a police captain.

2.  Chapter 40, section 40-26 (A) is hereby amended by adding after the last sentence the following: The Mayor as appointing authority under the Civil Service may, subject to the provisions of G.L.c.31, appoint a Deputy Chief whose job duties and authority shall be as assigned by the Chief of Police and as established by the Human Resources Division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

 

 

 

Any other item that may come before the committee as time permits.
